During the Race of Champions, which took place on 3 and 4 December, more than 35,000 visitors watched the world’s best racing drivers battle it out on an indoor track inside the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf. Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel were able to win the Nations Cup again, while rally ace Sébastian Ogier won the actual Race of Champions.

Wiesmann ranks among the leading luxury brands in Germany
The sports car manufacturer Wiesmann counts already for the third time in a row amongst the leading ranks in luxury cars, as has been announced recently by the Wirtschaftswoche. The eminent sixth rank leads to happiness and satisfaction in the eyes of the brand Wiesmann: “We are very satisfied that our comparably small enterprise was able to establish itself that well and successful amongst the top brands during the last years”, expresses CEO Friedhelm Wiesmann.
Remarkable and significant is that the brands which are ranked higher than the sports car manufacturer from Muenster are group brands like A. Lange & Söhne (Richemont), Maybach (Daimler), Glashütte Original (Swatch Group) und Porsche (Volkswagen). Like in previous years it becomes apparent that especially more technical oriented enterprises are ranked the highest. The majority of the brands in the luxury ranks are adherent to this sector. “German luxury is universally well known and has a great reputation. Being rank with the big players is therefore a tremendous advantage internationally”, adds Friedhelm Wiesmann.
The luxury brand index is published every two years since 2005 in cooperation with the Munich brand agency Brand Network. This index is based on three criteria, namely the price-range, the price-bonus and the brand-appeal, which are determined by 200 interviews with experts in that area. The ranking can be downloaded at www.wiwo.de.

Wiesmann at Geneva Motor Show 2011
From March 1st until 13th Wiesmann will be at Geneva Motor Show. The german sports car manufacturer presents its whole array of handcrafted sports cars at booth 1243. As a highlight the design study of Wiesmann Spyder will appear first in the automobiles world. The Spyder is an extremely downsized variation which has only one motivation: to provide a maximum of driving enjoyment.
Powerful, ultra-light and purist, the Wiesmann Spyder is the essence of Wiesmann’s philosophy. The two seater is the most extreme Wiesmann ever built and introduces itself without doors or even a windscreen. In Geneve there will be a design study presented, which needs to undergo the judgement of the experts. General Manager of the manufactory Friedhelm Wiesmann says: “We want to test the marketability of such cars in Geneve”, and he goes on: “The feedback of customers, partners and experts has high influence on the consideration of advancing the Spyder model.” Wiesmann has not yet decided whether to put the Spyder into production. If it does go into production, this won’t be before 2012.

The evolution of dynamics: The Wiesmann model series MF4 and MF5 as of now come with new twin turbo engines
Motor replacement at the Dülmen sports car manufactory. Starting in the new year, Wiesmann will be banking on BMW twin turbo technology for their model series MF4 and MF5. The Wiesmann GT and Roadster MF4 and MF5 can now be ordered with the new engine types. These engines will be stronger and more agile, while working more efficiently and economically than their predecessors. Top priority in the selection of these new engines went to what Wiesmann is all about: unlimited driving fun.
The MF4 will now be equipped with a BMW 4.4l V8 twin turbo direct injection petrol engine. With its engine capacity of 4,395 cm³ and 407 hp (300kW) at 5,500 to 6,400 rpm, the MF4 will reach a top speed of 180.8 mp/h. It will reach 0 to 60 mp/h in just 4.6 seconds. And while doing so, these handmade sports cars create an unrivalled symphony of sound, power and sheer driving excitement.
Also the MF5 will receive an engine based on latest twin turbo technology. The top-of-the-range model will also be equipped with a 4.4l V8 twin turbo direct injection petrol engine - this one, however, with even more impressive capacity. Here are the M-motor specifications: 555 hp at 5,750 to 6,750 rpm; 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 193.2 mp/h. And all that with just 10.7l per 100 km (combined) - a truly remarkable result at such performance values. The new engines make the MF5 model series the most powerful Wiesmann cars of all time.
The Wiesmann Roadster MF3 will keep its current engine (now with Euro 5), leaving the classic roadster untouched for connoisseurs of the car manufacturer for individualists.
